We’re talking SELF-CARE here, peeps! Self-care and accountability!!! They makes the difference between well-earned/deserved goodness and just getting plain ol’ lucky or unlucky. We can manifest our desires, yes? Sooo…. why don’t we?! Let’s not fall victim (or even trick ourselves into thinking we’re the victim). Let’s be the badass light warriors that we are! Let’s all be health and happiness actualizers and take each day for everything it’s got!!
With the winter, our bodies are starting to slooooooow down and coast into human-hiatus /-hibernation mode. We require more sleep, more rest, more time for introspection and an overall deeper connection with self. It totally makes sense though, because as the seasons change our needs change right along with ‘em (since us and nature are kind of on the ultimate buddy system).
There are some inherent winter obstacles that can steer us off the sweet, smooth path of self-care. We’ve all experienced the exhaustion that results from being sucked into the holiday hype – it’s just SO easy to neglect ourselves while immerse ourselves in the season of giving. And once we slip up with our self-care we tend to think we are being “lazy” or “unproductive” or some other inaccurate notion of what we are because we’ve cast our own well-being to the wayside.
Let’s nip those winter blues in the bud, shall we?! Let’s try to go the extra mile with our favorite creative outlets these next few months. Be sure to remain mindful of what YOU favor, because practicing what you love TOTALLY results in some stellar self-care. And stellar self-care can make for a super successful winter! Some of my favorite, necessary creative outlets that I recommend to all of my loves include:
Exercise – Shake whatchu got! Work out the funk! You were gifted this body – Work it!
Mindful Diet – This is different for everyone so just focus on how/what to eat for unique, special YOU!
Meditation – How much do I love it? Sooooo effing much!!!!
SLEEP – ‘Nuff said right here: “Take rest; a field that has rested gives a bountiful crop.” ~Ovid
Other great outlets that I love include keeping a gratitude journal (it’s kinda hard to get gloomy when you’re focused on being grateful!), reading, creating art in any/all forms, communing with nature, unplugging from technology, soaking in the bathtub, dancing, laughing… the list goes on and on!!
Personally, I have noticed that when my self-care is in check, my entire life is in check. Sessions with my healers continue to be powerful, but in a much different way when I am taking care of myself. On the other hand, when I am not taking proper care of myself and I tend to feel desperate for my healers; I feel lost and needy, and crave their direction. Sessions are centered around rescuing me, calming me down and putting out fires rather than focusing on preventing those fires in the first place.
And, yes! I always check in with my healers. Regularly! It’s important to value being vulnerable and allowing others to hold you. It helps us to recognize that our healers are sometimes able to see us better than we can, allowing them to provide invaluable direction, perspective and feedback. But, the bottom line is that no matter what the feedback, what you do with it is up to YOU. This is YOUR show! Nurture it, love it, care for it, LIVE IT!
Lemme know how this winter full of self-care works out for ya in the comments below. What’s YOUR favorite creative outlet? What’s your favorite way to take a personal time out for some R&R?
